Holly Jolly

Oh por golly have a holly jolly

Yesterday, I was privileged to attend this year’s Christmas program for 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds at the British School of Vila Real near Castellón in Valencia. The student body is mostly Spanish children, with some from all over Europe, Asia, and Latin America. It operates in English and Spanish.

The program consisted of recorded Christmas music interpreted by dance, other movement, and some singing by the students. Although sung in Spanish, I could readily interpret “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Not for the first time, I thought what genius it is to put on such programs for an audience of parents and grandparents. Yesterday’s program was well received.

A featured recording played as we exited the auditorium: “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas.” In English.

What a show.
